As a member and regional coordinator of Women Academics in Construction (WAiC), Dr. Miriam participates in and contributes to webinar series that connect academics and practitioners across the built environment sector in Africa and beyond.
Women Academics in Construction (WAiC) is a professional network that supports women navigating academic and professional careers in construction-related disciplines including architecture, engineering, quantity surveying, and urban planning. The network operates across Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Ethiopia, Sri Lanka, and other countries.
WAiC runs a webinar series, mentorship programmes, and advocacy initiatives aimed at advancing the visibility and development of women in the built environment academy. Its webinar series brings together academics, practitioners, and thought leaders from across the sector to discuss themes relevant to career growth, wellbeing, and scholarship.
Dr. Miriam has been involved with WAiC both as a participant in its webinar series and, since 2025, as the Regional Coordinator for East Nigeria, responsible for coordinating WAiC activities within her zone.
